Vivian Tan

Founder and Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist

My approach to speech pathology is deeply rooted in empathy, respect, and a thorough understanding of the nuances of human communication. I believe that effective communication is about much more than words; it's about building meaningful connections and empowering individuals to express their authentic selves. Similarly, my approach to feeding therapy is to empower the family to optimise feeding goals and nutritional outcomes.

I qualified in 2012 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) from the University of Sydney. Since then, I worked in a wide range of settings from a tertiary hospital, to schools, in the community and in private practice across Singapore and Australia. I currently hold dual registration with the Allied Health Professions Council Singapore and as a Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, which has enriched my practice and expanded my expertise across a broad range of speech and language disorders, fluency issues, feeding and swallowing difficulties.

I am committed to a collaborative approach, working closely with families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic and integrated care. I also remain actively engaged in the speech pathology community, continually updating my skills and staying abreast of the latest industry trends through workshops, seminars, and conferences. My dedication to ongoing learning and development is a testament to my commitment to delivering the highest standard of care to my clients. I am not just a practitioner; I am a lifelong learner and advocate for the transformative power of speech therapy.

Aoyuan

Founder and Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist

I trained as a speech therapist in University College London and started my career in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. After 6.5 years of work in inpatient wards and outpatient clinics, I decided to transition to private practice to provide more focused and individualised therapy, in schools, private clinic and home settings. I have had the privilege to support children 0-18 years old, and their families, from different countries and cultures, across various areas of feeding, speech and language difficulties.

My approach to therapy is to place the child and their family at the core, by understanding what their unique interests and preferences are, and the challenges and difficulties they face. I also believe in empowering caregivers and educators by equipping them with skills and knowledge, and to work collaboratively with them to create a nurturing environment for the child to succeed in.

My passion lies in working with infants and children with complex medical diagnoses (e.g. very preterm infants, long term tube feeding) and children with developmental difficulties (e.g. ASD), to support their feeding and communication needs. I also work with children with oromotor challenges and picky eating, to help them and their families achieve their feeding goals and make mealtimes more enjoyable.

Beyond professional experiences, I am also a mother of three with firsthand experience of breastfeeding difficulties, bottle aversion and picky eating with my little ones. This has taught me to be more empathetic and to use my creativity, as I journey through therapy with the families I support.
